Las Voces del Subsuelo features local artists from NYC’s dyanamic Latin Art scene live in conversation with host Yo Castro Reyes. This month’s special guest is Catalina Santamaría, an independent filmmaker who has directed, produced, photographed and edited short films such as Derail, Excepto Mi Alma, Luminiscencia, and Umbrella House, all of which have been featured in international festivals and won awards. Her first feature film, Squatters/Okupas, received the award for Best International Documentary Feature at the Puerto Rico Film Festival, as well as the Havana Star Prize – Special Mention of the Jury in Documentary – at the 2022 Havana Film Festival in New York. Since 2015, Catalina has worked as a producer for the Italics television channel, on CUNY TV.
